Pen Pals, Mighty Arrow, and the late great JD Salinger.
Firstly, I would like to wish a fond farewell to the great J.D. Salinger. Salinger was the man responsible for characters as great as Holden Caufield. Holden's bad attitude and general antagonism were traits I admired in my youth, and Salinger's total disregard for fanciness in language is something I continue to strive for. Many did not realize that Salinger was even still alive (that's what 50 years of pathological reclusiveness will do to a reputation) but he was, until yesterday. He died in his New Hampshire home of natural causes. He was 91. Now go back and re-read Catcher in the Rye, it will be totally worth it.
Onto Mighty Arrow: So, the much anticipated release of our spring seasonal is upon us people. We must all say good bye to 2Below for a few season's, and welcome the return of Mighty Arrow. At half the IBU's of the hoppiest Ranger IPA (also, this coming week) this pale ale with Amarillo and Cascade hops sings a refreshing song to your palette, and continues to massage it into comfort with a nice honey malt base. Let us all rejoice, because the spring seasonal means the spring season, and with the spring season comes longer days, warmer nights, and dry dirt for mountain biking. I for one would like to look Mighty Arrow right in the eyes, and wrap around it a long embrace, all the while whispering into it's ear "welcome back spring, I have missed you".
And lastly, I want a pen pal. This is my call to all readers, and this call carries the question "will you be my pen pal?" I think post cards are a lovely way to do this, and in "postcards" I mean Post-Coasters (but non-Post-Coaster post cards are just as acceptable, and almost as awesome). Here is a quick explanation: Post-Coasters are the coasters that we (New Belgium) have all over the place that double as a post card. You can find the several designs in bars across the country and also featured quite prominantly in the Liquid Center. Here is an example:
Just grab a Post-Coaster (or just a regular post card) and write something great on it, then mail it to me.
