Happy Bike to Work Day (and week).  Those of us who are lucky enough to commute through natural areas, beside streams, or past lakes enjoy seeing little glimpses of nature.  Today I saw my fair share of little wonders: barn swallows swooping over fence lines, a red-tailed hawk soaring right over the open space by the railroad tracks.  I enjoy all these sights, but that's not the high point.  No, folks, I bet you'd be really surprised if I told you that every day, on my commute, I ride past Uranus.

Uranus

Folks, it's true.  I'm sure you had no idea (though how I have no idea) that Uranus is part of my commute.  Technically, it's not part of my commute, as I just graze the edge of it.  Still, today, like most days, I feel my heart just skip a beat as I get closer to Uranus.

I hope you all had just as good of a time on your bike commutes as I did on mine.

Take care!

There's something about

There's something about riding your bike to work that just makes the day so much better. It's refreshing. I'm doing a research project in Japan right now, out in a remote little town. We don't have cars, so we bike to work every day. It's humid as hell, but the hill sides here are just so beautiful and green. There's wild hawks all over the place, and the people in Miki City are the nicest people I've ever met!!

I'm going to miss Japan when I come home in the end of July, but I'm looking forward to getting out of the humidity, and spending some quality time in the slightly less green (but still beautiful) hills around Horsetooth.

I miss you Fort Collins!!

I think using "graze" in

I think using "graze" in reference to Uranus demands recognition. Kudos to you sir, kudos.

I've only been to Fort

I've only been to Fort Collins once - 3 weeks ago with the sole purpose of visiting New Belgium Brewery. I am a closet conservationist and was very interested in their "green" methods of running the brewery. I also have always enjoyed fat tire which I initially tried because i've always been an avid bicyclist.

1. The brewery is unbelievable - great building, lots of green technology and concepts, and great company history.
2. I never knew the other beers new belgium brewed and got a chance to taste several including 1554. (What a beer! - Historically I have not been a porter beer drinker, but that has now changed.
3. Tour was great and the staff was fantastic. What a fun place to go to work!

I will be spending 80% of my time in Colorado Springs between now and the end of the year for work. I am sure that I will get back up to Ft. Collins at least one more time.

I also need to buy another bike to keep in the Springs so I can still commute to work every day.
