Fire on Future Brewery Site (Update: 4/6 @ 4.30 p.m.)

4.8 @ 8:00 a.m. Update: General Manager Jay Richardson assessed site damage and security first thing Sunday morning with A+P, Fire Chiefs Burnette and Cowan, as well as the deconstruction project managers.  The details of the fire and arson were discussed, as well as the security of the site.  Richardson will meet with the Leader’s Roundtable Monday evening to review information.  In this picture, they are reviewing details of the fire and materials lost in the former Penland Auction House building. 4.6 @ 4:30 p.m. Update: The Asheville Fire Department has informed New Belgium that the fires appear to have been intentionally set and that they are investigating the incident. April 2013 AVL Site Update

As deconstruction begins, we will provide regular site work updates here on the Site Stories page.   The construction process is complex and there will be dirt, trucks and noise. We will do our best to anticipate challenges and provide information on this page for the New Belgium site construction process.  Thank you, in advance, for your patience. Asheville Equipment Partners Chosen

We have chosen our vendors to supply brewing process and packaging equipment for our Asheville facility. Brewhouse, cold block, filtration and finishing systems will come from GEA Brewing Systems GmbH. All fermentation and storage vessels will come from Ziemann International GmbH. Kuenzel Maschinenbau GmbH will supply the malt storage and handling systems. Albert Handtmann Armaturenfabrik & Co GmbH will supply the process equipment for fermentation and yeast cellars. March 2013 Open House Summary

A loosely estimated 800 people came earlier this month to meet New Belgium co-workers and partners who are supporting the process of building the brewery and improving infrastructure in our community.  Partners presented their collaborations with New Belgium around: bicyclist/pedestrian infrastructure, stream best management practices (BMPs), brownfield development, re-purposing deconstructed materials, bus shelters, spent grain re-use to support farmers and innovative technology, as well as the nuts and bolts of brewery design and truck routing. Deconstruction: Old World Architectural + Salvage Co.

Bradley Barrett from Old World Architectural + Salvage Co. is supporting deconstruction at the old stockyard and storage site along the French Broad River in West Asheville and River District–the future New Belgium brewery and liquid center site.  He is on-site getting the process going and gleaning samples of materials for our architects to re-purpose materials in the new brewery.
