Soil Stabilization + Improvement and Floodplain Mitigation
Anticipated community impact: 3.5 of 5 (noise and trucks)
Due to some weather-related impacts, we continue to work on soil stabilization and floodplain mitigation on site and will do so into early May. The work on site will increase in intensity in March and April. We will be working many Saturdays and will delay starting work until at least 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays.
Aggregate Piers: As foundation preparation, large cylindrical holes will be drilled into the ground on site and stone will fill the holes and be compacted to stabilize the soil. There will be trucks bringing stone to the site, as well as drilling and pounding. You will see heavy earth moving equipment. We expect this process will take 6-8 weeks.
Flood Plain Mitigation: Our local earthwork subcontractor, Tennoca Construction, will be bringing fill dirt onto the site to raise it above the floodplain—up to 8 feet in some places.
Routing Fill Dirt on Riverside Drive: At our request, the vast majority of earthmoving dump trucks will be using Riverside Drive, though some may have to navigate along Haywood or Amboy Roads at some point in the process.
Please be aware, this is an active and secured construction site. Thank you for respecting the safety boundaries of the site. Please do not enter the site for any reason.
