Local grants
The purpose of New Belgium's Local Grants Program is to serve and connect with the local communities where we sell our beers. We want to cultivate relationships and support those making an impact. Our goal is to improve the health of the natural environment and inspire others to joyously embrace sustainable choices.
History
NBB's Local Grants Program began in 1995 when it was established that for every barrel of beer produced, $1 would be given to non-profit organizations in the communities where we sell our beers. To date, New Belgium has donated $3.5 million. In 2010, we will donate $580,000 to programs in 26 states.
Current Programs
- Small grants program - NBB offers small grants to innovative nonprofit organizations whose works align with our areas of focus.
- Large grants program - NBB partners with a select group of non-profits for capacity building and program support.
- 1% for the Planet - In 2007, NBB joined 1% for the Planet: an alliance of businesses committed to leveraging their resources to create a healthier planet. Through this program New Belgium made a commitment to donate 1% of our sales to environmental stewardship. This exciting program surpasses our original commitment of $1 per barrel and combines our Local Grants, Sponsorship, and Good Will programs to reach this goal. You can learn more about One Percent for the Planet at www.onepercentfortheplanet.org
- Advocacy - Through our advocacy efforts we hope to create positive change by educating leaders, influencing policy makers, and raising public awareness. We are actively supporting legislation to protect our watersheds and promote smarter transportation.
